Nice place and a beautiful interior, but it was very dark, I could barely see what I was eating. Also, everyone around was smoking. The dishes were creative but unmemorable and very greasy. Even high-quality, raw fish is simply drowned in oil, so that its taste is completely lost.

Unfortunately, I’m not impressed with the service nor the main dish this time around. Waiters came across quite impatient. We ordered fish main dish and there were only 4 tiny tiny pieces fish, too much yogurt and sauce and a lot of bread on the plate. It can’t be the whole fillet that’s for sure. Starters were amazing again. But in general I’m disappointed and I don’t think I will recommend Hodan to my foreign guests for a while. Sorry!

The food was good, but not as spectacular as I expected from the price tag. The appetizers were great, but the main courses were very bland. They also did not offer dessert. The service was cordial, but not solution oriented. I made a reservation to celebrate a birthday, and after asking was told nothing special could be added to the table (i.e. rose/flower/etc). Fine, no problem. During dinner I specified we were there to celebrate a birthday, again no recommendation for dessert. Fine, since they don't have desserts no problem. Then during the dinner we were constantly pestered by cats, which we told the hosts but they didn't recommend anything. They just watched us stand up as we evaded the cats. We finally told them to move us to a different table. Thanks to the lack of apathy and lack of focus on the customer we couldn't focus on our evening at hand, and instead had to solve the problems put before us by restaurant management. Which is ironic because they automatically added gratuity to the bill (something uncommon in any restaurant when eating with less than 4 guests). In summary, the appetizers were good, but everything else could be found better somewhere else.

Probably the best restaurant with the best service that I have visited in Istanbul (I am from Italy 🇮🇹). For sure the price is high, but food is good and very well served, though cleanliness and tidyness of the place could be better anyway

This was the nicest meal we had in Istanbul, the overall experience was excellent. Everything was absolutely delicious, the service was great, and we went a little bit early in the evening so had the place to ourselves. I would definitely recommend a reservation though. The dining area is covered, but feels like you’re outside, there’s lovely art and lots of plants and trees. We shared four dishes for two people - there was a yogurt dish with hot peppers that was particularly good. A little bit on the pricier side but reasonably priced for the quality, service and atmosphere and definitely less than we would have paid in Canada. Would 100% go again!

Photos are from a few months ago, we came in having reserved a table. The menu has changed since then from what I hear but we were pretty happy with our dinner. Borek with lor cheese was to die for and also the mini kofte were delicious.

I wanted to come to Hodan since its opening. I am fond of chef and owner Cigdem Seferoglu since her debut at 5 oclock Pastry. Finally, during my current visit to Turkiye, I found the opportunity to go with my friends. The location of the restaurant is not too easy to go with car, however it is easy walk from Istiklal Caddesi or Galataport. The restaurant is clearly marked and located at the first floor if a historical building. The decor is simple and modern. The sitting area is outdoor with covered ceilings. The bar and wood fire oven is visible. We had vegetarian, pescatarian in our group and everyone was able to find something from the menu. The menu could have more description for the type of food being served which was hard for us to understand how it was prepared. Our server has to describe us the food for us to grasp what we were ordering. Vegetable dishes were really good especially crispy enginar and ot dishes. The meat dishes we ordered were fine but nothing extraordinary. Drinks were pretty good. We ordered non alcoholic drinks and they were tasty. For dessert, we wished there were more options. We ordered everything that was in dessert menu and we liked the tiramisu the best. We made reservations for our group easily. I hope this restaurant will survive and keep innovating and improving itself
